Counting the days until I go back to work- they're whizzing by- I can now say, "I'm going back to work next week." Cam had the day off, but Jeff didn't. Things didn't go much differently than any other weekend day. He was on the xBox. I went to Dr. K's, who okayed me for showering without being taped up! Woohoo! Back to normal, finally. The one kind of open wound left needs to be addressed with a bit of betadine and a bandaid. It's healing at a quick pace. There is a large patch of strange redness that he took some pictures of and will talk to a dermatologist to see if anything can be done about it. He admits he's never seen anything like it, and that's saying a lot. He said they're not too quick responding, so he think he'll hear something from them by the end of the week. Three weeks until I see him again.
Mary Anne came by to do some laminating for her LACMA presentation. She's done some lovely visuals of how paints were created in different colors- ochre, cinnabar, lapis, lead white. Of course we just head down to the closest Dick Blick's for paint nowadays. She's such a talented artist...
Then I hung out in bed for a while, well, most of the afternoon. I'm reading The Invisible Bridge that my mom sent me for my Kindle. Boy, it makes me want to go to Paris. I know it's going to be more epic, I'm reading pre-WWII now, but you can feel the anti-semetic tension building. Brutal. Cheese-eating surrender monkeys, as Cam would say.
Jim made dinner for Lifegroup tonight- beef stew. Just what the cold day needed. Since Cam didn't have lacrosse practice Jeff and Cam stayed for dinner. It was delicious. Lifegroup is lovely- it's been a good connection with intelligent, good people. I wish all Christians were good people like I've met. The world would be a better place. So much damage has been done in the (egregiously wrong) name of Christianity, but what I've experienced is not what that's about.
Currently in bed under about 35 pounds of kitteny goodness (only 2 of the three are here, the third should show up soon.) House is cold. Bed is warm. Probably going to sleep soon.
Tomorrow is Blue & Gold. This will be my first meeting since my surgery. Looks like the committee will pull it off in style- we're having a fiesta! I'll cinch up my belt on my uniform and eat tacos and do the macarena. Can't wait to see what they have planned.
I LOVE my pretty princess thermos. I sip it all morning and it keeps my lattes toasty warm. In the mug, the heat is gone within a half an hour. 30 minutes is just too quick to get all that caffeine into my system. I need a slow drip.
