I was fortunate enough to sign up for LA Fujimama's macaron class featuring Tartlette herself, Helene du Jardins.
I'll post some images post haste, but I wanted to get this up here in case any of the folks from the class happened by.
I did make my first solo batch of macarons today based on Helene's recipe, but used pistachios in place of half of the almonds. The pistachio flavor really shines in the cookie. However, I did not use enough of the green powder coloring and the cookie color could best be described as anemic. I probably should have not used any color, and dropped a few chopped pistachios on top instead.
The ganache is cooling in the fridge. Smells divine!
Almond fluff and confectioner's sugar.
Sweet Tartlette, Helene, herself...
Perspective- I think that's Jen at the end of the piping nozzle.
Ready for the oven. A bit large and about 3 strokes overbeaten.
Out of the oven... These are not mine- how did I not get a shot of mine?
It was a fabulous class now wasn't it? I had no idea who I was in the presence of...until now! (humble face, humble face) What a lovely group of ladies! Thanks for everything, and Bon Chance on those cookies! : )
