Dear Diary...

Friday Eve (but really Saturday Eve for me)

I might be able to take a trip to Paris this summer- so looking forward to it.  I need to do some work to make extra euros for spending cash.

No school tomorrow in honor of Cesar Chavez.  Both Cam and I have the day off...

We're going to see Source Code at 10:45 am.

I had my first (in several years) Pilates lesson with Patte.  It was gentle enough not to have much pain, but I'm feeling it now, several hours later.  I'm glad she suggested icing my back.  Strangely though, my chest is feeling it the most.  I was a little panicky thinking the pain(ish) was pulmonary before I remembered that we did some chest stretches.

The boys were already gone when I got home, so I had some leftover cubesteak and mushrooms.

Cam and I watched Castle and are hanging out now watching Big Bang Theory.

Tomorrow will be spent figuring out costume pieces.

Friday Eve

Yes, it's Friday eve.  Even though it's Wednesday, Cam and I don't have school on Friday.  So our week ends tomorrow.

Poor Elvira had a tooth removed today and bone graft, yet still showed up at work afterwards, despite the pain.  Poor thing.  I'm certainly being spoiled by her.

It was a warm afternoon and the kittens got to romp in the driveway- they were happy to roll about on the heated cement.  I decided that jeans and a t-shirt were too warm, so I switched out to a bathing suit.  Geez- Monday it was freezing and today I'm wearing a suit.

Tried to take a nap this afternoon, but seriously as soon as I closed my eyes, they started trimming the trees across the street, Jeff's phone rang, AND the damned dog next door started barking.  Ugh. I tried to use the tree trimming as white noise, but it kept going on and off at irregular intervals, so that didn't work.

I got up and decided to make a yummy dinner- Marlboro Man's favorite sandwich from Pioneer Woman.  It was certainly delicious, though it pulls no punches with the fattening.  Lots of butter and meat.  How could you go wrong.  I added a touch of shredded mozzarella.  Cam and Jeff gobbled it along with a salad.  However delicious, this is a once or twice a year meal, since it's so fattening (a whole cube of butter for about six servings.)

I'm not feeling so hot- wonky stomach- perhaps the sammie was too much.  Cam and I are watching the Muppet Treasure Island movie now.  Silly thing.

Soupy Tuesday

Today was fine... staff meeting in my room.  Home, then off to Sew Modern to draft Cam's venetians and doublet.  It's a cute quilting shop with an amazing cutting table.  I did have to pay for table rental.  Seems like the directions from Eric Atkinson worked fine.  I know I should do a mock-up but that's like sewing twice.

I got home and made a delicious soup- cold weather chowder with dill havarti from Sunday Soup topped with chives and crispy bacon. It was very easy and yummy. Supposed to be made with carraway havarti, but they didn't have any.  Nevertheless it was perfect with grilled cheese.  Jeff tells me the weather is supposed to be hotter towards the end of the week.

My father sent me some great photos of himself at faire from the early 1970s. I hope he has some of me.

Monday Monday

Not much today, at least this early in the afternoon.  We're on for salads for Lifegroup tonight. I'm doing main dish next Monday... (Marlboro Man's favorite sandwich?)

Cam's working on his pinewood derby car with Jeff.  He wanted to do a VW bug, but the block doesn't go well with the roundy shape of the bug.  He's settled for a shoe.  Tomorrow Shawn is helping do the cutting.

 

Boy's Sunday

We had a boy's day today.  Cam slept in, which never does.  He slept until about 8:45.  We skipped out on church (for which he felt guilty, and told me so...) because of lacrosse.  He had an early game and had to be there at 12:30.  They played the Eagles and were soundly defeated (no one even knows the score, but it was something like 11 to 3.)

Jeff got home before we did, and was dirty and tired.  He had to unpack his crap and tidy the garage again.

We booked a 4:00 movie- Battle: LA.  I love the reserved seating at the AMC (though I prefer and would much rather go to Landmark.)  Movie was meh.  I was nodding off- loud movies seem to do that to me.  Instead of eating at the mall (yay us!) we went home and had delicious corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage.  However, it wasn't finished until almost eight.

Late Start Saturday

Poor Cam woke up at about 4 this morning crying with an earache.  I groggily hauled my ass out of bed into the cold and got him some advil and a benadryl for congestion. I remembered how much a heating pad helps an earache, so I got one of those too.  He moaned for another 20 minutes or so and fell asleep.

I woke to clinking of dishes and was amazed to see that it was nine-thirty.  Oops, we were supposed to be out at faire at 9.  We zipped out to McDonald's for breakfast and made it to site by 11:00.  I jumped into Eric A's costuming class and learned how to make venetians and picked up the doublet pattern instructions.  I think that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.  Make the pattern, anyway.  Cam's decided to go with the gold stripe fabric with some sagey teal herringbone twill.  I've washed the fabric and it came out of the dryer nicely.

Cam spent the day handing out sodas and was quite dedicated. We left site at around two and drove home.  We spent the afternoon watching Hot Fuzz and are now watching Austin Powers (him for the first time.)  We also made popcorn.

"When I was insolent, I was beaten in a burlap sack." "There is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it really is quite breathtaking."  So bad.

Strange Day! Or only in LA....

ugh... format error, but i can't be bothered to fix now, but not that anyone reads here anyway.

<p>Work was fine.&nbsp; Helped extremely timid girl in my class learn how to go down the chain ladder- it was very challenging, but nice to achieve.</p>
<p>Jen came over and accompanied Cam and me to get my hair done.&nbsp; Such a good friend!&nbsp; He just lurves her- and shows it in punchy ways. Totally hilarious Hollywood sighting- Barry Williams who plays Greg Brady was there getting his hair and eyebrows did.&nbsp; He walked by me wearing his syling robe open- shirtless!&nbsp; LOL, seriously.</p>
<p>Then Cam and I went to Century City for the movies and dinner.&nbsp; We had Take a Bao, and there was a big group of young teens, kids, and their parents that turned out to <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">(I think) include <a title="Greyson Chance does Paparazzi" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LDuP10jzRw" target="_blank">Greyson Chance- who does a spectacular version of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi</a> and was on Ellen DeGeneres.&nbsp;</span> (I take it back- seems as though it was the pretty blonde girl has a twin brother who looks remarkably like Greyson Chance.) There was also a pretty blonde girl who (IMO) was wearing too much makeup. Turns out she was in the movie and they were there to see it. It was cute- after the movie, when her name came up the whole row cheered for her.&nbsp; She took pictures afterwards with some tweenie girls.&nbsp; <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">I don't think anyone recognized Greyson, if it was him.</span></p>
<p>I tried to get Cam to take a picture with her but he took off and was extremely offended that I would even suggest such a horrible thing.</p>

Cheating Tuesday

It started to rain JUST as I was leaving school today.  Cam was in my room watching stupid shows, so I hung out on the couch with Cathy and quickly attracted two kittens who are no longer kitten size on my lap.  We watched some less stupid television after hanging up.

Jeff's not feeling well- he's got the crud that Cam had, so he was grumpy.  Cam headed out to Rock Star and Treehouse and then Jeff played video games.  We're so boring.  I finally decided that dinner was going to be Pitfire Pizza takeout.  Yay for takeout and beet salad!

Went to bed early since it's rainy and cold.

(The cheating part is that I forgot to post yesterday and it's early Wednesday morning.)

Totally Tuesday

School was fine.  No problems, but the extra hour and a half for staff meeting really kills me.

I finished and submitted my application for the job of my dreams- tech integration specialist for a local private school.  If I'd written an application for my perfect job, this would have been it.  I have every requirement, including my Ed Tech masters.  It's a K-12 school with a strong lacrosse program- totally the school of my dreams for Cameron.  Some of Cathy's friends' kids attend this school, and have nothing but great things to say about it.

Cam stayed home again, so I picked up his homework.  He finished it with only complaining about 15 times.  He's a smarty and doesn't need that much help- needy more like.  He is NOT sick anymore, despite what he has to say.  He'll cough, but that's just a remnant and more than likely his asthma.  Skipping scouts tonight.

Jeff's making dinner- some sort of pasta dealy.

Parent Conference Monday

Cam home sick with the gunk.  Cough, body aches, snotty nose.

Cam's doing great at school except for the usual- "Talks too much."  Sigh.  Don't know what to do about it.  He does talk too much, which is fine for him, but it's a problem because it keeps less capable kids from learning.

Lifegroup was nice, as usual.  Dinner was mac and cheese (made by me at Irina's) and Salad.  I passed on the shake and bake chicken because I'd eaten too much pasta.  Then Alea made a delish dessert- pound cake with strawberries and whipped cream.

These wee crackers from TJoe's have totally addicted me.  Topped with an herbed goat cheese they're awesome.  I have purchased eight boxes in the past week.  Four remain unopened for the time being.
